This event is open to all middle and high school students (grades 6 to 12).
What is GIN?
GIN stands for Global Issues Network. Every year, the American Community School of Abu Dhabi, along with other schools around the world organise GIN conferences. These are student run events. These events empower students to take action and tackle the global problems where they are most passionate. The weekend revolves around awareness and action; as a result of the weekend, a variety of action plans will be drafted with the intention of implementing at each participating school as a part of a collaborative GIN effort.
What is the theme of the weekend?
GIN AD 2014 will be focused on world hunger and sustainability. The event will break off into more specific topics such as Water’s Role in Hunger, Malnutrition, Women & Hunger, Food Waste, Crisis Food Aid and Worker Nutrition. Participants will selects these groups, called GANGS (Global Action Network Groups), based on their interests. All groups are led by students and the discussion includes regional and global outreach.
How much does it cost?
Registration cost is between AED 500-600 per person. This includes all meals / snacks from Thursday lunch to Saturday lunch and other conference activities. Some excursions choices might entail an additional cost. Exact cost will be finalized and published soon.
